3/5 stars In a real but an unreal city named the Hak Nam Walled City, there live three kids-Jin Lang, Mei Yee, and Dai-surviving in the worst possible situations to fulfill their missions before the Walled City is taken over by outside authorities. In this city, girls are sold into prostitution, crime is high, and cults are formed from the worst individuals. One guy named Longwai basically controls Hak Nam Walled City with his gang of ruthless killers while Jin Lang is on a quest to rescue her sister Mei Yee from the brothel that took her and Dai is finding a way out with the little time time he has left. Dai teams up with both Jin Lang and Mei Lee to get himself and others out of the place they have called home for years, but surviving is the hardest thing to do now that they have started their missions. My Monthly Adventures: September 2017

Hello! How was your month? My month was very busy, which meant I barely had time to read and write reviews or other types of blog posts. I will try to squeeze some more in the month of October, but we will read. Well, this little introduction is not enough about me so let's get on with what I did this month! Books I Read This Month 1. The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken 5/5 stars This has to be my favorite book of this month, and is in with my favorite books of all time. I really liked Alexandra Bracken's writing and her storytelling; and, I cannot wait to read more books from her. Here is my review on Goodreads and my blog . 2.  Achilles  by Greg Boose 1/5 stars I DNF(did not finish) this book after eighty pages. It was so bad that I had to write a review on it on Goodreads and soon my blog. 3. Our Short History by Laura Goldstein 4/5 stars I really enjoyed reading Goldstein's book. I have a review on Goodreads ...for now. 4.   Gir

Unpopular Bookish Opinions Book Tag

Image
This week has been very busy and stressful for me; and, I do not feel like writing a full review since that takes hours before I am happy with it. Even though I may not want to write a book review, I want to write a post to make myself happy and accomplished since I will have completed my weekly goal for posting. So, I decided to do an oldie-but-goody book tag that was created long ago in the mystic land of BookTube. It is the UNPOPULAR OPINIONS BOOK TAG, and I find this so fun and interesting since one can learn so much about someone from their opinions! The reason I decided to do this tag is so you can learn a little bit more about me, and I have many opinions that I would like to share with all of you. You know what, let's just get into this controversial book tag! Disclaimer : I do not mean to offend anyone if your favorite book or series is mentioned in this post. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinions, so I am only expressing my opinions, not hating on someone i

Book Review: Black Bird of the Gallows by Meg Kassel

* Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.  This kindness in no way affects my opinions, and this review is honest. - " Reece leans forward, reaches for me, then drops his hand. 'I'd give anything to be a normal boy. To stay. Go to prom with you. But even one of the reasons why I'm drawn to you is because I'm attracted to death.' " -Meg Kassel, Black Bird of the Gallows 3/5 stars About everyone is afraid of the inevitable death that awaits one, unless if you are a harbinger of death, a beekeeper, or a scarecrow. This whole different world and everyone involved in it is unknown to everyone else until Angie Dovage, an outcast who has a troubled past, a love for music, and an obsession with her new next door neighbor Reece Fernandez, stalks and becomes a friend to the new guy Reece. With the new harbringer of death in her life, that includes more supernatural creatures like a beekeeper who is trying to bring destruction and

The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken

Foreword : I have received an ARC(Advanced Review Copy) of  The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding  from the publisher to do a honest review on it. " I would say it's a pleasure to meet thee, Prosperity Oceanus Redding, but truly, I only anticipate the delights of destroying thy happiness. " -Alexandra Bracken, The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding 5/5 stars In one of the oldest towns in America, Prosper Redding is celebrating Founder's Day with his family, and realizes something is brewing. Prosper is an outsider with no friends, a weird family, and now a fiend is living inside of him due to his more than great grandfather breaking a contract with Alastor, a fiend who wreaks havoc on the human world. Prosper's evil grandmother tries to kill him, which leads him to be rescued by a man said to be his Uncle Barnabas and his cousin Nell, who may be too helpful to his condition. He, then, enrolls in the local school, creates a whole new identity for himself, an

My Monthly Adventures: August 2017

I have decided to start a new segment on this blog called My Monthly Adventures. Since the school year is starting, it is the perfect time for me to begin this new addition to the post family. To start off this new segment, school has started(BOO and HOORAY), sleep has taken a step down on my list of things to do, and school work has flooded my life. Since this is a monthly update, I will tell you what I read and did this month. For this month, I did a good amount of reading, but I did not read the best books on the bookshelves. I mostly gave books 3/5 star ratings and lower for most of the books I read, which is not normal. I read... 1. What My Cat Has Taught Me About Life by Niki Anderson 4/5 stars This was the first book I had completely read in August due to a really bad reading slump taking over my life and 180 pages was an easy enough task for me to complete. I did a blog post based on this book called The Meaning of Life...From a Cat , which is a discussion/ mini review
