Book Haul: Stacking My Shelves High with Some New Books

Image
On Saturdays, Tynga's Reviews hosts a weekly meme for all the book lovers who receive books. With this meme, a book or an author can be promoted to all the people who may be interested. This is really cool as I love discussing books; however, it is mostly in a review or blog tour style. I have never done a book haul as I never get a lot of books at one time and I always feel like expressing my love or deep hatred in a review. But, in the words of the young Justin Bieber, "Never say never." Now, as every book lover does on any day, it is time to share and hug my new books! - - - For Review(Thanks Netgalley, publishers, and authors! <3 ): 1. Bob by Wendy Mass and Rebecca Stead I had gotten a book by Nicholas Gannon, and it had such pretty artwork. Once I saw the title, which features my favorite name to use for stuffed animals, and that he was the illustrator, I hurried up and hit request. I cannot wait to read the story and stare at all the pretty illustr

Book Review: Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur | Unpopular Opinions, Hitting "Enter" Millions of Times, and Getting a Craving for Milk and Honey

Milk and Honey  is a collection of poetry and prose about survival. It is about the experience of violence, abuse, love, loss, and femininity. It is split into four chapters, and each chapter serves a different purpose, deals with a different pain, heals a different heartache.  milk and honey  takes readers through a journey of the most bitter moments in life and finds sweetness in them because there is sweetness everywhere if you are just willing to look. Discussion: 2/5 stars There have been few books that I have read from Amazon's Prime reading since I have started book blogging, and this happens to be one of them. I know that I am currently swimming in a pile of books(and book reviews); however, this book is so short. How can I pass up a really short book that would not really matter if I did not like it or not? The other reason why I decided to pick this up was because of the hype other people have put on it. I heard so many people saying that this was their favorite boo

Book Review: Ghost Stories by Whit Taylor

Image
3/5 stars Ghost Stories  is a graphic novel collection offering three haunting explorations. Granted the chance to meet three of her dead idols in "Ghost," the author’s cartoon-self embarks on a journey to remote and unanticipated landscapes, in a story of self-discovery and healing. In "Wallpaper," a child tells the story of a household move, remodel, and loss through the lens of flashbulb memory. And in "Makers," two girls with an unorthodox friendship make a rocky transition into adulthood. Throughout each tale, ghosts exist as past selves and remnants of past relationships that are met with inquiry, resolution, and personal rebirth. Discussion: If you are looking for a spooky story to scare the socks off of your's and everyone else's feet, put down this book, get some tissues and cookies, and then sit yourself back down and reopen this book as this is not a book of scary ghost stories. Instead, this is a book full of stories that tel
