You try magic once and it sticks to you like glitter glue . . . When Johnny and his best friend, Alison, pass their summer holidays dabbling in magic, they never expect it to have consequences. Sure, it’d be great if they could banish bullies or change their lives for the better, and what harm could come from lighting a few candles and chanting a few spells? When they cause an earthquake that shakes Chicago to its core, they draw the attention of the Marduk Institute, an age-old organization dedicated to fostering the talents of young wizards. Once there, Johnny and Alison are told they can never return to their previous lives, and must quickly adapt to a new world shimmering with monsters, fraternities, and cute boys like Hunter and Blake. But when they’re pulled into an epic, supernatural fight that could cost them both their lives, Johnny and Alison find strength they never knew they had as they battle for love, acceptance, and their own happy ending—all with the help of a little ma

Book Review: Bob by Wendy Mass and Rebecca Stead | Abuse is NOT Okay

Livy can’t remember her first visit to her grandmother’s house all the way across the world in Australia, though she does seem to recall a ‘wrong chicken’ and something unusual about a black chess piece. She definitely doesn’t remember the strange little creature she finds in the wardrobe. His name is Bob, and he’s been waiting for her to come back for more than five years—that’s a very long time to sit in the dark. Livy and Bob piece together the mystery of who Bob is, and a beautiful friendship unfolds. Now Livy must help Bob find his way home. Bob  is a tender and engaging story for young readers about loyalty and the power of imagination, set in an Australian country town. Discussion: " I was too busy basking in the glow of hearing my name. The Great and Powerful Bob. The Bobster. His Bobness. " 1.5/5 stars Wow. Just, wow. I expected so much more from this fun-looking book with the best title in existence. Really, who doesn't click on a book titled with the

15 Questions with Lil' Bro: The Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan

Hi everyone! I am back from the dead. I dug myself out of my book-made grave and risen up with  Clockwork Princess  in one hand and my other hand at the ready to type my next post. I feel dead due to all the deadlines that have been punching me in the face; however, as no one probably wants to hear about my bruised yet beautiful face, I think it is time to move on to reviewing a book series. In January, I had my brother tell me his thoughts on the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series through a series of questions. As I like to follow a pattern in my life, except for when it comes down to solving a problem with trigonometry as it is a stinking pile of confusing "math," I chose to be like Vogue and ask my brother, a newfound celebrity, fifteen questions about his so called "favorite series from Riordan yet." - - - ⭐A key to understanding who is who:  Nicole is bold  and Nathan is normal, just as it is in real life. 1. My Brother Chooses My March TBR (AKA Where I Curl into a Ball Due to My Fear of the Book God's Choices)

First, this may be one of the hardest things I will ever do in my life. I do not even know if I can write this post because I am so scared. This is literally me right now! For the month of March, I have let my brother choose the books I am going to read. Ugh, I hate having someone in control of my reading choices; however, I thought this would be a fun thing to do. Also, it would get me out of my comfort zone. Also, just to ease my suffering, I am making my brother do this challenge too! Hehe! However, does this mean I will stop reading Shadowhunters? Nope. Never. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Another synonym for no. Let's just jump into this torturous fun March TBR! My March TBR 1. Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver -First read was so magical so I need more. 2. Love and War by Melissa de la Cruz -I should be okay without reading the first book, right? 3. The Book of Pearl by Timoth ée de Fombelle -Magical Realism a.k.a. starry eyes 4. The Knight with Two Swords

RANKED: My Favorite Books of 2017

Image
As I am currently listening to 2017's top hits, I thought that this would be the perfect time to begin the new year with a post discussing my favorite books of 2017. 2017 was a somewhat great reading year. I gave a lot of 5 stars to books that can be brought into my favorites and others that can stay on my almost-favorites shelf. I wish I could but some of the books I read last year were not the greatest so I have compiled a list of books that have lasted with me throughout the year. 1. Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare First off, I have my #1 favorite for 2017: Lord of Shadows . I am pretty sure almost everyone is psychic on this one as any Cassandra Clare book is absolutely #1 for me. The only regret I have about this book is that I wish I had written a review for this when I had first read it, and maybe I will when I reread it; however, I was absent from my blog for a while so yeah. Anyway, I loved this addition to the Dark Artifices trilogy, and I am so glad that we do
