Image
Tiger is a very lucky kid: she has a monster living under her bed. Every night, Tiger and Monster play games until it’s time for lights out. Of course, Monster would never try to scare Tiger—that’s not what best friends do. But Monster needs to scare someone…it’s a monster, after all. So while Tiger sleeps, Monster scares all of her nightmares away. Thanks to her friend, Tiger has nothing but good dreams. But waiting in the darkness is a nightmare so big and mean that Monster can’t fight it alone. Only teamwork and a lot of bravery can chase this nightmare away. In this charming graphic novel for young readers, cartoonist Emily Tetri proves that unlikely best friends can be an unbeatable team, even against  the scariest monsters. Discussion: 5/5 stars Everyone experiences nightmares throughout one's life. Even when you are little, you can have a nightmare that causes you to wake up with cold sweats and screaming bloody murder. I have always endured nightmares about college

Book Review: Bob by Wendy Mass and Rebecca Stead | Abuse is NOT Okay

Image
Livy can’t remember her first visit to her grandmother’s house all the way across the world in Australia, though she does seem to recall a ‘wrong chicken’ and something unusual about a black chess piece. She definitely doesn’t remember the strange little creature she finds in the wardrobe. His name is Bob, and he’s been waiting for her to come back for more than five years—that’s a very long time to sit in the dark. Livy and Bob piece together the mystery of who Bob is, and a beautiful friendship unfolds. Now Livy must help Bob find his way home. Bob  is a tender and engaging story for young readers about loyalty and the power of imagination, set in an Australian country town. Discussion: " I was too busy basking in the glow of hearing my name. The Great and Powerful Bob. The Bobster. His Bobness. " 1.5/5 stars Wow. Just, wow. I expected so much more from this fun-looking book with the best title in existence. Really, who doesn't click on a book titled with the

15 Questions with Lil' Bro: The Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan

Image
Hi everyone! I am back from the dead. I dug myself out of my book-made grave and risen up with  Clockwork Princess  in one hand and my other hand at the ready to type my next post. I feel dead due to all the deadlines that have been punching me in the face; however, as no one probably wants to hear about my bruised yet beautiful face, I think it is time to move on to reviewing a book series. In January, I had my brother tell me his thoughts on the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series through a series of questions. As I like to follow a pattern in my life, except for when it comes down to solving a problem with trigonometry as it is a stinking pile of confusing "math," I chose to be like Vogue and ask my brother, a newfound celebrity, fifteen questions about his so called "favorite series from Riordan yet." - - - ⭐A key to understanding who is who:  Nicole is bold  and Nathan is normal, just as it is in real life. 1. What star ratings (out of 5 stars)

Book Review: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare | My Baby Has Sprout Wings Once Again

Image
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a  smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy? This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know..

Hero Cats Volume One by Kyle Puttkammer: Superhero Cats, Hogwart Houses, and Meet My Cats

Image
The cutest heroes on the planet have arrived! Meet the Hero Cats of Stellar City in this, their first spectacular graphic novel. Not your ordinary house cats, they're a tactical, action-packed covert team dealing with extraordinary threats to humanity in ways that will amaze. Discussion: 4/5 stars There has been a trend that has not ended and probably will stay for a long, long, long, LOOONG time: superheroes. And I LOVE superheroes. From Superman to Wonder Woman to Iron Man, I always love a good superhero story. This one sure does take the cake, too, as this story is about a bunch of CATS! Who doesn't like cats other than the occasional cat-hater or super-dog-lover?! I found all the cats to be very nicely drawn and brave when they were facing their enemy. Also, since I find myself to be a mix of Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, I am very happy that a lot of the cats used their brains while also being the bravest they could be. Although I may have enjoyed this book very much,

Series Review with Lil' Bro: Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan

Image
I have gone on a journey of nagging influencing my brother to read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series written by Rick Riordan. FINALLY , he has finished the series, so I thought I could do a mini review/interview to entertain all your minds. I had also thought it would be fun to put up a review of a book series without reviewing each individual book. However, it did not go as I had planned as my brother does not respond to questions immediately with long and detailed answers. I intervened, gave him answers, and wrote down something smarter than what he actually said. Anyway, let's rush into my brother's mind and find out what he thinks about Percy Jackson and his friends. - 1. What rating(out of 5 stars) would you give these books? The Lightning Thief : 4.5-It is just the beginning of the series, and I felt that it was not the best.(Why are you making me get interviewed?) Sea of Monsters : 4- I found Tyson annoying. The Titan's Curse : 4.5- I found Artemis and
