Four Books I Recently Got in the Mail That Caused Me to Scream

Over the course of my life, books have always been a central part. This could be due to my mom being an advocate for reading or due to the several packages of books that come to my house at random times of the week. Every time a package appears on my doorstep, I squeal. My family says I outright scream bloody murder, but I think I just squeal loudly every time I see a shiny new book come into my hungry arms.

Due to my past, I have followed my mom's footsteps and have been stacking my shelves with tons of books. Thanks to Tynga at Tynga's Reviews who hosts Stacking the Shelves, all the bookworms, that turn into bookdragons later in life, have the ability to share their recent book mail. Today, as it is Saturday, I am sharing the four books I have gotten within the past month, which hopefully will make Four wish that he had some Dauntless cake. Let's get into destroying some perfectly good packaging!

The War OutsideUnstoppable MosesKitty Hawk and the Icelandic Intrigue (Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency, #3)The Burning Maze (The Trials of Apollo, #3)

1. The War Outside by Monica Hesse

I am working with the people from TheNOVL to introduce Monica Hesse's latest novel, The War Outside. I was so excited when I saw this package on my porch. At first, I had no idea why I had gotten a package with my name on it; then, I opened it and saw a million tiny babies with wings shooting me with arrows because I felt so helpless. I looked into the book's cover and was helpless! (Comment if you understand the reference!:)) I cannot wait to read this and be part of theNOVL's book squad.

2.  Unstoppable Moses by Tyler James Smith

I won this in a Goodreads giveaway, and I am so intrigued. Put John Green's name on any book, and I will most likely read it. It also sounds so interesting! Like all the other books on this list and beyond, I want to read this so badly; so when the time comes, you know I will be sitting in my little corner of my house and shush everyone away until I am done. Just you wait!

3. Kitty Hawk and the Icelandic Intrigue by Iain Reading

I have slowly been making my way through the Kitty Hawk mysteries, and I have loved every single second of it! I have reviewed the first one, Kitty Hawk and the Curse of the Yukon Gold, and I loved it so much! I am slowly (like a snail!) writing my review of the second book, Kitty Hawk and the Hunt for Hemingway's Ghost, and I cannot wait to read the third book next! The last book was better the first. Hopefully, this trend continues, and the series can end with a bang!

4. The Burning Maze by Rick Riordan

If you are not sure about your interest in Greek mythology, read Rick Riordan's books. Then, you will know that you MUST read the rest of his books. The Trials of Apollo series, which is going to be a series of five AMAZING BOOKS, is, obviously, about Apollo, a poor, troublesome god, and his troubles as a mortal human. This story is hilarious, and to see this story go further, just gets my nerves going. Plus, I do not want to get too far behind in the series until I don't even know where the world of mythology has gone. I know that problem can escalate quickly. *takes a quick peek at shelf and sees Tower of Dawn stalking me down* Soon, I will read both The Burning Maze and Tower of Dawn. Soon.

EDIT: I have not read either he Burning Maze or Tower of Dawn. 😖

In conclusion, I want to read all these books now. As soon as I finish some reviews and some other books that I am currently reading, I will read these books. They all sound so good, and they want to be read now. It is a problem that I am starting to have dreams where my books are yelling at me to read them while I am riding a dragon breathing fire on a cooking hamburger patty. Yeah, I think I have a problem with my problem of isolating books. I need to read them all!

Until the next Saturday I receive books, thanks so much for reading, and I hope you enjoy your day!

Love,
newbookcats

  2. Having a book backlog can be frustrating so I hope you get the chance to find that quiet corner and dive in soon. I’m a sucker for a library. My best friend was a librarian and her influence remains to this day. There’s something so soothing about libraries, with so many exciting worlds waiting to leap off the shelves and into your life. They are the heart of any community. Happy reading and thanks for a great post!

    1. Aww! Thanks for the lovely comment! I love the library. I used to not love it as much when I was a child because I was scared of germs; now, I view the library as a place for readers to exchange stories that also have stories behind it as well. Plus, it is super ultra quiet that I can hear the dropped pen that broke my concentration. I hope you can find the time to read as well in this busy and hectic life full of new releases! Have a great day!

  3. As soon as I opened this blog, I let out a little scream because, when I was a bit younger, Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series were probably my favourite books, and although I've seen about some of his newer releases, I haven't read any of them. I think this post has actually inspired me to get back to him at some point so thank you!

    1. I am so glad that I am not the only one who screams when a Rick Riordan book comes within five feet of me. I love the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and so does my brother. I may have forced my brother to read the series, but it is his favorite series now. Yes, you should definitely get back into the series. If you ever need a refresher, you can read my book reviews of the PJ and the Olympians and The Heroes of Olympus series. (sorry, #selfpromo.) But, I still highly recommend picking up Riordan's books. If you do, feel free to tell me all about your experience! Thanks for commenting, and have a good day! <3

  4. Book mail is the best type of mail. Whenever I see the mailman put a book-shaped package in my mailbox, I run outside and get it immediately. I hope you enjoy your new books!

    1. Yes, it truly is. When I see the mail person (or pigeon/raven depending on what fantasy novel you live in) come, I will run and tackle them. I then take the book and run into my house so I can immediately read the book. I guess I am not the only one who stalks the mail box. I hope you enjoy any books you've received! Have a good day, and thanks for commenting!

    1. Yes, just start it now. Forget about all the responsibilities of being an human in this world and go into a room full of peace or another fantasy world! I love Percy Jackson, too! I hope you have a good day! Thanks for commenting!

  7. I love Uncle Rick sooo much because he was the first YA author I read and his books were the ones that sucked me into the fandom life. I usually like to buy my books online, that too from Flipkart as almost all the books I bought off Amazon have scratches all over the cover or the plastic covering on the cover is peeling off. Also the books in the bookstores are opened by the people so many times that they sometimes have ridges on their spines when I pick it up for the first time. Plus Flipkart gives a free bookmark with every book. So it's a win-win 🙃

    1. Hi, Janani! Rick is an awesome writer, and I can believe that he has influenced a lot of people, including me. I have a bunch of books of his lining my shelves, and I have no idea what would've happened if I was never introduced to him and his books. Also, Flipkart sounds awesome. Finding a book in the exact condition you want and getting a free bookmark sounds amazing! I must find this magical shop of books! I hope you enjoy Uncle Rick's future books! Have a great day! <3
