Book Review: A Beautiful Curse by Kenley Davidson | A Mean Frog Finds Love with a Nice Prince

Image
When a bumbling fairy godfather gifts a humble woodcutter’s fourth child with extraordinary beauty, she spends the next eighteen years trying to hide it—behind a book. Now, Elisette is ready to follow her dreams and become a scholar, but her admirers keep getting in the way of her ambitions. Ellie knows better than to rely on her fairy godfather, but she’s desperate enough to risk asking him for help. The trouble is, Mortimer isn’t feeling very helpful. In fact, he’s downright irritated…  After a bit of vengeful fairy magic, Ellie discovers that webbed feet and green skin are even harder to manage than beauty. No one cares what happens to a frog, except maybe quiet, unassuming Prince Cambren, who has enough troubles of his own.  Will Ellie find a way to break her curse and live happily ever after? Or will she spend the rest of her life eating flies and living in a pond at the back of the palace garden?  Discussion:  " Her fascination with words and books and lea...

A Letter and An Apology to the Top Ten Books I Meant to Read in 2023 but Never Got To

Image
As of January 2024, I would like to officially acknowledge the beginning of the new year. As of yesterday, I have replaced my pencil and eraser with a permanent pen, particularly as I am no longer needing to erase the "3" from the date portion of any paper document. I expect applause at this momentous occasion, but first...some of my intentions in 2023 remained unfruitful.  As tribute, this post is dedicated to the books that were abandoned. To those untouched on the TBR shelf or those pages never tear-marked, crinkled, highlighted, and marked with reader thoughts. To the books that would have left me breathless and developed my warped humor further with the trauma of losing characters or triangular love connections, this is an apology and an affirmation that you will shine in 2024! Move over DiCaprio, for the real dreamboats are awaiting my wicked eyes. These are the Books of '24 . 1 0 Books I Meant to Read in 2023 But Never Got To:     1. The Heroes of Olympus: The Son...

My Monthly Adventures: January 2018 | Breaking New Year's Resolutions, More Procrastination, and Wrapping Myself in Blankets and Books

Image
Hello, everyone!  Sorry but there are no puns to share with you today. Okay, maybe one! While I was searching up puns to add to this puntastic post, I saw on my calendar that it has been February for twenty-one pilots  days. That means that this post was supposed to go up twenty-one milk bottles on the wall ago. Just to inform everyone, this is my mind at noon. Anyway, this is an easy and laid-back post so I do not know why I keep pushing this aside and instead choose to write reviews. One of my New Year's Resolutions was to have my wrap-ups posted ON TIME . Emphasis on the words " ON TIME ." So, let's just try to wrap-up January. Anyway, I am going to fly right through this wrap-up for January as I have to finish a few book reviews for some authors and a publicist I am working with. Thank you to all of you who are okay with my laziness and my terrible time-management. Also, since I am super lazy, can I just copy and paste my list from my December ...

Book Review: Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur | Unpopular Opinions, Hitting "Enter" Millions of Times, and Getting a Craving for Milk and Honey

Image
Milk and Honey  is a collection of poetry and prose about survival. It is about the experience of violence, abuse, love, loss, and femininity. It is split into four chapters, and each chapter serves a different purpose, deals with a different pain, heals a different heartache.  milk and honey  takes readers through a journey of the most bitter moments in life and finds sweetness in them because there is sweetness everywhere if you are just willing to look. Discussion: 2/5 stars There have been few books that I have read from Amazon's Prime reading since I have started book blogging, and this happens to be one of them. I know that I am currently swimming in a pile of books(and book reviews); however, this book is so short. How can I pass up a really short book that would not really matter if I did not like it or not? The other reason why I decided to pick this up was because of the hype other people have put on it. I heard so many people saying that this was their fa...

Hero Cats Volume One by Kyle Puttkammer: Superhero Cats, Hogwart Houses, and Meet My Cats

Image
The cutest heroes on the planet have arrived! Meet the Hero Cats of Stellar City in this, their first spectacular graphic novel. Not your ordinary house cats, they're a tactical, action-packed covert team dealing with extraordinary threats to humanity in ways that will amaze. Discussion: 4/5 stars There has been a trend that has not ended and probably will stay for a long, long, long, LOOONG time: superheroes. And I LOVE superheroes. From Superman to Wonder Woman to Iron Man, I always love a good superhero story. This one sure does take the cake, too, as this story is about a bunch of CATS! Who doesn't like cats other than the occasional cat-hater or super-dog-lover?! I found all the cats to be very nicely drawn and brave when they were facing their enemy. Also, since I find myself to be a mix of Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, I am very happy that a lot of the cats used their brains while also being the bravest they could be. Although I may have enjoyed this book very much,...
