You try magic once and it sticks to you like glitter glue . . . When Johnny and his best friend, Alison, pass their summer holidays dabbling in magic, they never expect it to have consequences. Sure, it’d be great if they could banish bullies or change their lives for the better, and what harm could come from lighting a few candles and chanting a few spells? When they cause an earthquake that shakes Chicago to its core, they draw the attention of the Marduk Institute, an age-old organization dedicated to fostering the talents of young wizards. Once there, Johnny and Alison are told they can never return to their previous lives, and must quickly adapt to a new world shimmering with monsters, fraternities, and cute boys like Hunter and Blake. But when they’re pulled into an epic, supernatural fight that could cost them both their lives, Johnny and Alison find strength they never knew they had as they battle for love, acceptance, and their own happy ending—all with the help of a little ma...

Mini Book Reviews: Gudetama | Stress and Why Books Can Handle It So Much Better Than Mortal Humans

Image
Hi everyone! Has it been a while for you since I've posted? Probably not, but that is how I feel today. After a full day of school, I feel so tired. I am not tired so much in the way that I need to fall asleep in the next minute with drool flowing from my open mouth, but I am tired from feeling stressed out all day. I have been wondering about my final grade for my English test; I have put myself on a reading schedule due to not having read anything for the last two weeks because SCHOOL IS MY LIFE*; I have studied for tests throughout the past two weeks as well. Also, finals is this week, and I am freaking out. There have been many things stressing me, and I am so glad that blogging is not one of them. After a long time of sitting in my carpool's car, I finally arrived home to find a package sitting against my house door. Little did I know that the two books that I requested so long ago would be the ones to pick me up after a stressful couple of weeks. * Can you relat...

15 Questions with Lil' Bro: The Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan

Image
Hi everyone! I am back from the dead. I dug myself out of my book-made grave and risen up with  Clockwork Princess  in one hand and my other hand at the ready to type my next post. I feel dead due to all the deadlines that have been punching me in the face; however, as no one probably wants to hear about my bruised yet beautiful face, I think it is time to move on to reviewing a book series. In January, I had my brother tell me his thoughts on the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series through a series of questions. As I like to follow a pattern in my life, except for when it comes down to solving a problem with trigonometry as it is a stinking pile of confusing "math," I chose to be like Vogue and ask my brother, a newfound celebrity, fifteen questions about his so called "favorite series from Riordan yet." - - - ⭐A key to understanding who is who:  Nicole is bold  and Nathan is normal, just as it is in real life. 1. What star ratings (out of 5 sta...

Series Review with Lil' Bro: Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan

I have gone on a journey of nagging influencing my brother to read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series written by Rick Riordan. FINALLY , he has finished the series, so I thought I could do a mini review/interview to entertain all your minds. I had also thought it would be fun to put up a review of a book series without reviewing each individual book. However, it did not go as I had planned as my brother does not respond to questions immediately with long and detailed answers. I intervened, gave him answers, and wrote down something smarter than what he actually said. Anyway, let's rush into my brother's mind and find out what he thinks about Percy Jackson and his friends. - 1. What rating(out of 5 stars) would you give these books? The Lightning Thief : 4.5-It is just the beginning of the series, and I felt that it was not the best.(Why are you making me get interviewed?) Sea of Monsters : 4- I found Tyson annoying. The Titan's Curse : 4.5- I found Artemis and...
