Image
Foreword:  I had received an ARC(Advanced Review Copy) of  Mask of Shadows  from the publisher to do a review on it. This kindness in no way affects my opinions or how I viewed the book. This review is to be honest and state my opinions on the matter. " You shouldn't kiss people who could kill you ." - Linsey Miller, Mask of Shadows 4.5/5 stars Linsey Miller writes her debut novel,  Mask of Shadows , a wonderful book full of twists and turns, a gender-fluid character, and a story anyone could enjoy. It all starts one day while Sal is out robbing and flirting with rich ladies, and Sal steals a flier that grants them admission to a prestigious event for becoming the Queen's Opal with just a price of a life. Unlucky for Sal, they gets in, and survives through attempted assassinations and kills their competitors for a chance to become the desired position of Opal. It all goes perfectly to plan with Maud becoming a trusty friend and Elise becoming a love interest...

Book Review: Traitor's Masque by Kenley Davidson

Image
" Love that kills and destroys to protect itself is not love at all."   - Kenley Davidson,  Traitor's Masque 4/5 stars Kenley Davidson retells a story of  Cinderella , one of the most popular stories of all time, in  Traitor's Masque , the first book in the Andari Chronicles. As it has been told before, Cinderella or Trystan, in this case, has two stepsisters, one dead father, one fully alive evil stepmother, and a charming prince ready to take her away with a drop of a shoe or a horse trinket. Unlike Cinderella, Trystan does not wait for her prince to come rescue her, but stumbles upon him one day when she has the freedom to ride her horse to Kingwood, a special spot her father and she used to visit. Once she gets lost and rides into an open field, she meets a mysterious man named Donevan who has a mysterious life, a bunch of stories, witty humor, and a way into Trystan's heart. But, this is before Tystan learns of a way to get her freedom through a betray...

Book Review: Secondborn by Amy A. Bartol

Image
Foreword:  I had received a free copy of  Secondborn  from the publisher to do a review on it. This kindness in no way affects my opinions or how I viewed the book. This review is to be honest and state my opinions on the matter. 2/5 stars As it is today, one always rules over another individual. From a parent and child relationship to a president and citizen relationship, someone is always above someone else in society. This is no different in Bartol's  Secondborn . Roselle St. Sismode, secondborn of her mother the Clarity of the Fate of Swords, has been watched since the day she born, and it is no different on Transition Day, which is the day she begins her never-ending journey to protect firstborns. On this day, Roselle meets Hawthorne who ends up becoming her love interest and savior when Agent Crows crosses paths with Roselle and when she is thrown into battle. Roselle has always been sharp-witted and independent, so when she started believing that there s...

Book Review: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke

Image
3/5 stars If one person were to go to a boring town, would they change the course of the future for that very said town? In Echo, a mysterious man named River West stays in the Whites' guesthouse. Violet immediately takes a liking to him the minute he walks into her life, but she does not know the full story of this man who shows up in a fancy car and has secrets trailing behind him. Then, disappearances and deaths start occurring due to River's "glow" that causes him to control people or to see an image, like a hologram, of a person or thing. This causes trouble to stir, Violet to question everything, and more mystery people coming to the Whites' home. Who knows what's real and who is creating the uproar in a regular boring town, such as Echo. Discussion: First, even though I love the cover, I did not love everything about this story. For one, the characters were not some of my favorite.  1. Violet White, the main character, is smart and passionate ...

Book Review: The Readymade Thief by Augustus Rose

Image
Foreword:  I had received a free ARC(Advanced Readers Copy) of The Readymade Thief from the publisher to do a review on it. This kindness in no way affects my opinions or how I viewed the book. This review is to be honest and to have my own opinions on the matter. 3/5 stars Turning eighteen for a person means getting out of high school and going off to college to plan one's life before their eyes, right? Lee Cuddy definitely does not follow that life path since she is pushed into a world of art and survival due to a group of bachelors inspired by Duchamp's art. One day, she is betrayed by family and friends due to and ends up in juvenile prison where she soon escapes. Once she escapes, she is thrown into a world of mystery and unknown adventures in Crystal Castle after she gets recruited, and even after she escapes. While recruited, she feels like one of the many happy lost kids living there until she finds a hallway with jelly-eyed kids. She dashes out of there but not...

Book Review: Zenn Diagram by Wendy Brandt

Foreword:  I had received a free copy of Zenn Diagram  from the publisher to do a review on it. This kindness in no way affects my opinions or how I viewed the book. This review is to be honest and to have my own opinions on the matter. 2/5 stars What if you could not touch anyone? What if you got information from the people you have touched when touching them? Eva has the ability, or "curse" as she likes to call it with tons of math and fangirl moments naming it, to touch people and know their past with fractals, visions from a person directed from their feelings. This all changes one day when Zenn needs help with math and the only person who can do that is Eva. Eva likes Zenn, and soon finds out Zenn likes her back with a kiss. What about her ability, if you may ask? Zenn is immune to her touches, so they are free to touch each other back and forth. Their relationship grows until Eva learns something daunting about the connection of her and Zenn's families. Eva must...

My Plans for This Blog

I, obviously, love my blog. I love writing about books and anything I want that you and I like, but that does not explain why I abandon this blog that I say I love for very long periods of time until I trek onto this blog once again with good intentions but only leaving one or two scraps of posts to get my readers by. That, hopefully, stops now(or soon). That is why I devised a plan to keep by so I can get full use out of this blog I conjured up one day on a whim. My plan consists of: 1. Amount of Blog Posts I will write at least one blog post a month without writing something just to check the task off my list. I will write in advance, schedule a specific time to write blog post, or do whatever I can to complete this task without doing anything I view as bad. 2. Monthly Wrap-Ups Instead of doing full reviews for every book I read, I will be doing a monthly wrap up sort of deal(I will come up with a better name for it, I promise). This will include books I re...
